INEC Chairman Warn Nigerians Make Dem No Collect Money for Anambra Gov Election

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, don send strong warning give politicians and their supporters say make dem no try buy votes for the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

Amupitan talk this one for Abuja on Tuesday during meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).

He say INEC don join body with police and anti-graft agencies to stop anybody wey wan spoil the election with vote buying.

“Security people no suppose allow vote buyers waka around on election day. Make we join hand stop this bad habit and make sure say our democracy stand gidigba,” he talk.

The INEC oga talk say the commission don check everything for Anambra and dem ready to conduct better election. He mention say dem don do mock accreditation for 12 polling units across six local government areas using the BVAS machine.

“Even though small network wahala show, we don fix am. Everything go run smoothly on election day,” he add.

INEC plan to deploy about 24,000 staff for the poll wey go happen for 5,718 polling units. Him also talk say collation go happen for wards, local government, and finally for Awka, the state capital.

For him part, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, talk say government no go take nonsense from anybody wey wan cause wahala for the election.

Ribadu wey send message through the Director of Internal Security, Hassan Yahaya Abdullahi, talk say dem don plan well, add plenty security people and gather intelligence to stop any attempt to scatter the election.

He warn say anybody wey cause fight or bring violence go face strong action from police and other security people.

“All political parties must talk peace and make dem followers behave well. Nigeria election no be war,” Ribadu add.
