NLC dey demand ₦150,000 Minimum Wage for Lagos Workers

NLC Lagos say workers deserve ₦150,000 as new minimum wage because cost of living don too high

  1. The Lagos State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) don call on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu make im raise the minimum wage for state workers go ₦150,000, as cost of living for Lagos don climb high pass other places.

NLC state chairperson, Comrade Funmi Sesi, make this demand on Thursday as she react to the recent wage increment wey Imo and Ebonyi states don announce for their workers.

She yarn say Lagos workers dey currently collect ₦85,000 as minimum wage, but that money no dey reach anything again because house rent, transport, foodstuff and utilities don skyrocket.

“The time don reach to adjust Lagos minimum wage. At least other governors don take the bold step, Lagos no suppose lag behind. If Sanwo-Olu increase am now, nobody go fit blame am because na wetin the workers deserve,” Sesi tok.

She add say workers for Lagos deserve better pay and good working condition wey match the hard economic reality for the state.

The NLC boss also express hope say other states go soon follow the example of Imo and Ebonyi.

Make we remember say Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo recently raise minimum wage for state civil servants from ₦76,000 to ₦104,000, while Ebonyi State Government upgrade their own from ₦70,000 to ₦90,000.
