NEMA Share Relief Materials to Windstorm Victims for Niger State
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) don distribute relief materials give families wey suffer from recent windstorm wey destroy houses and property for Bangi, Sharadi and Durgu communities in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
The intervention follow Federal Government approval through NEMA to support affected residents and reduce the hardship caused by the natural disaster.
The distribution exercise happen on Saturday, July 26, 2026, and officials from NEMA Minna Operations Office, led by the Head of Planning, Research and Forecasting Unit, Hajiya Ramatu Turaki, represent the Head of Operations, Mr. Hussaini Isah, carry out the exercise alongside the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) and other stakeholders.
The NEMA team was welcomed by the Chairman of Mariga LGA, Hon. Aliyu Bagga Muhammad, former Council Chairman Hon. Idris Ibrahim, Personal Assistant to the House of Representatives member for Kontagora/Mariga/Mashegu/Wushishi Federal Constituency, Alhaji Musa Muhammad Dabai, Village Head Alhaji Ya’u Buskum, and other local government officials.
The leaders praised the Federal Government and NEMA for the quick response to support the affected communities.
Items distributed to the victims include bags of rice, beans, vegetable oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes, iodised salt, wax prints and guinea brocade to help families recover from the disaster.
The distribution took place at the Ministry of Works, Unguwan Gwari, Kontagora, under the supervision of NEMA, NSEMA, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and that only verified victims received the relief materials.
Many of the beneficiaries thanked the Federal Government and NEMA, describing the intervention as timely support that would help them recover from the losses caused by the windstorm.
