Federal High Court for Abuja don refuse the application wey former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, carry come court to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding their national convention for Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16.
Lamido wey rule Jigawa from 2007 to 2015 under PDP, through him lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Jeph Njikonye, beg the court make e stop PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from continuing with the convention until court hear him main motion.
But for the ruling wey Justice Peter Lifu deliver on Friday, the court reject Lamido request and instead order PDP and INEC to appear within 72 hours to explain why the order no suppose hold.
Justice Lifu talk say after him check the whole documents, affidavits and cases wey Lamido lawyer present, e still better make court balance the two sides before taking any major decision.
The judge come adjourn the matter go November 6 for hearing.
This ruling come the same day another judge, Justice James Omotosho, stop PDP from holding the same convention for another case.
For the new case (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/2299/2025), Lamido talk say if PDP hold the convention, e go violate the party constitution and deny am chance to contest for National Chairman position.
He also ask the court make INEC no monitor or recognise any convention wey PDP hold until the motion finish.
Justice Lifu talk say court don study everything and decide to use the power under Order 26 Rule 8(c) of the court rules to make sure both sides get fair hearing before taking any step.
