  • Abuja – Auditor-General of the Federation (AuGF) don show say Nigeria Police Force (NPF) get plenty wahala for contracts and payments wey reach N2,694,859,868.53.

    The 2022 Auditor-General report wey just comot talk say plenty police projects don stop for middle, contracts dey wey no get proper approval, money dey pay for work wey no even happen, plus funds dey scatter for different police departments for Force Headquarters.

    One example na 14 contracts wey suppose dey continue for 2022 budget, cost N1.94 billion, but dem just abandon am. Instead, new contracts dey award wey no dey for 2022 Appropriation Act, and nobody fit trace dem.

    Another wahala na the 12 one-bedroom transit camps plus administrative block for Police Pre-retirement Skills Centre, Kudan, Kaduna. N79% of the N141 million contract don pay, but the camps never build by March 2024.

    Other wahala wey auditors flag include:

    • N499.87 million wey dem pay for Police College Phase II, Bashar, Plateau, wey never execute.

    • N112.03 million wey dem use 2022 money settle 2020 bills.

    • Irregular employment of Senior Special Assistant to IGP on revenue and tax at N6 million.

    • N10.08 million equipment wey dem buy for NPF Database Centre wey no follow guideline.

    • Loss of police horses and old guns wey no get proper record.

    AuGF talk say IGP suppose recover the money wey dem misuse. Police management talk say some abandoned projects na rollover from 2017, but auditors talk say explanation no make sense.
