Apapa, Lagos – Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) don rake in N2.635 trillion revenue between January and November 2025, show big increase of 19.9 per cent compared to the N2.2 trillion wey dem collect for the same period for 2024.

Oshoba say the success come from better automation, strong compliance enforcement and closer cooperation among all stakeholders for the port.

“From January to November 2025, Apapa Area Command generate N2.635 trillion. This na 19.9 per cent increase from wetin we get for 2024. Na result of better compliance, effective automation, close monitoring and the hard work of our officers,” he talk.

He add say Customs preference na compliance, no be confrontation, but warn say anybody wey try false declaration or break the law go face serious action.

The CAC list some of the major reforms wey help boost revenue to include the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme, the One-Stop Shop system to reduce delay and duplication, and the deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) to strengthen automation, risk management and revenue assurance.

Oshoba also reveal say the test-run of the new cargo scanner for APM Terminals on November 6, 2025, mark big step for non-intrusive inspection, wey go help speed up cargo clearance and reduce cost for importers.

On enforcement side, he say the Command record serious seizures of drugs, expired goods, arms and ammunition through intelligence-led operations and cooperation with other security agencies.

Representing the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG), Mohammed Babandede, Zonal Coordinator, Zone A, say 2025 na year to celebrate, but urge stakeholders to increase compliance.

“With your cooperation, Customs meet target for 2025. Trade facilitation important to us, but integrity of declaration must remain high,” Babandede talk.

He also announce say Customs go hold sensitisation programme on AEO scheme and call for stronger partnership with agents and traders come 2026.

Also speaking, Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Maritime Police Command, Chinedu Oko, assure say security agencies go continue to work hand-in-hand with Customs to maintain safety for the ports.

Representing the Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Chief Hakim Oladipo Ojora, praise Customs for maintaining peace and preventing crisis within the port community.

During the event, several terminal operators and agencies receive awards for cooperation and performance, while Kikelomo Adeniyi, National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), receive Lifetime Achievement Award for her social impact work, including women empowerment, welfare support and environmental initiatives.

The colourful ceremony attract top Customs officers, security agencies, terminal operators and freight forwarding associations, as stakeholders pledge stronger cooperation to make 2026 better for port operations and Nigeria economy.
