Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) don raise alarm over decision by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comot the name of their governorship candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, from the official list of candidates for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

For statement wey the party release yesterday, PDP talk say the omission na clear sign say present INEC leadership dey biased against the party. Dem insist say dem follow all due process and electoral guidelines for the nomination of Oluyede.
According to PDP, INEC bin get full notice of the party governorship primary election and even send officials come monitor the exercise. After the primaries, the commission reportedly issue monitoring report confirm say everything follow the law and the process dey democratic.
The party explain say after the primaries, INEC release nomination portal codes make parties upload candidates’ details. But PDP allege say few days to submission deadline, INEC block their own nomination code, force dem to submit Oluyede details manually at INEC office. PDP say INEC officially acknowledge the manual submission.
“For avoidance of doubt, INEC know about our primaries, monitor am and confirm say e comply with all laws,” PDP talk.
The opposition party add say considering how serious the matter be, INEC suppose act with more caution and responsibility by including Oluyede name for the published list, since no court order or complaint dey against his nomination.
PDP further stress say there was no rival submission challenging Oluyede candidacy and no court injunction stopping INEC from recognising am as PDP flagbearer for Ekiti.
Based on this, the party say the best and most lawful thing wey INEC suppose do na to include Oluyede name pending if any dispute go come later.
As INEC no do so, PDP don confirm say dem don start legal action to approach court and force the commission to include Oluwole Oluyede name for the final list of candidates for the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
“Since INEC fail to act rightly, our party don take steps to go court make dem compel INEC do wetin dem suppose do from the beginning,” the statement conclude.
