Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) don receive their January salary, plus payment of one month out of five months Wage Award arrears, according to officials.

With this latest payment, two months of the five months arrears don clear, while government plan to pay the remaining three months alongside salaries for February, March and April.

Despite the development, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) still dey mobilise workers from different sectors for a protest wey dem plan for Tuesday.

However, FCTA workers — on whose behalf NLC dey organise the protest — no join any work stoppage last week. Dem report for duty on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and dem also expect to resume work normally on Monday.

Sources inside the FCTA talk say while over 20 states don either stop payment of the Wage Award or no implement am at all, FCT don continue dey pay and don already clear two months of the arrears.

The sources also question the reason for the planned protest, urging the NLC make dem clearly state wetin dem dey demand specifically from the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
