
Nigeria Police Council don unanimously approve the appointment of Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police.
The development come after meeting of the council wey hold on Monday for the State House Abuja.
According to statement from presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the approval don clear the way for Bola Tinubu to officially swear in Disu on Wednesday.
The swearing-in ceremony go happen during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Top Leaders Attend Council Meeting
The meeting wey ratify the appointment get attendance of top government officials including Kashim Shettima, several state governors and the chairman of the Police Service Commission, Hashimu Argungu.
Other senior officials wey attend include George Akume, Nuhu Ribadu, Femi Gbajabiamila and Ibrahim Gaidam.
Also present for the meeting na Nyesom Wike and the Head of Service, Esther Didi Walson-Jack.
Governors Praise Disu Record

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praise Disu for his performance when he serve as commander of the Rapid Response Squad between 2015 and 2021.
According to the governor, Disu leadership help the squad gain recognition for effective crime control in Lagos.
Nyesom Wike also commend the police chief for his efforts in improving security operations within the territory.
Governor Peter Mbah later second the motion wey approve Disu appointment.
Disu Career For Nigeria Police
Bola Tinubu first appoint Disu as acting IGP on February 25, 2026 after the resignation of former police boss Kayode Egbetokun.
The 59-year-old officer take over leadership of the Nigeria Police Force during brief ceremony for Louis Edet House.
Before the appointment, Disu serve as Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex for Alagbon in Lagos.
He previously serve as Commissioner of Police for Rivers State and later as police commissioner for the Federal Capital Territory.
Disu, wey join the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, also serve as Divisional Police Officer for several locations including Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, Ikare and Owo in Ondo State, as well as Elimbu and Elelenwo in Rivers State.
