
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, don assure Nigerians say the Senate go pass the 2026 national budget on March 31, after lawmakers return from Sallah break.
Akpabio talk this one before the Senate adjourn plenary, explain say different Senate committees go still continue work during the break, especially on budget defence and discussion with the Appropriations Committee.
According to am, the leadership of the Senate dey push make the Committee on Appropriations quickly harmonise the report of the ₦48.472 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, so that once lawmakers resume, dem fit pass the budget without delay.
Akpabio also talk say the House of Representatives Nigeria don also adjourn to complete their own budget process and dem go meet again on March 31, with plan to pass the national budget the same day together with the Senate.

Meanwhile, the Senate also confirm Rear Admiral Jamila Abubakar-Sadiq (rtd) as National Commissioner to represent the North-East for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The confirmation follow recommendation from the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, wey Simon Lalong present, say she qualify well based on her experience, integrity and performance.
Lawmakers also approve the appointment of Usman Dakingari as Non-Career Ambassador and Ismail Yusuf as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria after the Senate adopt report from the Committee on Foreign Affairs presented by Bello Abubakar.
After the confirmation, Akpabio congratulate the nominees and express confidence say the new INEC commissioner go help strengthen Nigeria electoral system. He also praise Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing qualified women into important government positions.
