The investigation dey handled by Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) after reports spread for social media say the woman develop serious complications during or shortly after the aesthetic surgery.

Permanent Secretary of HEFAMAA, Abiola Idowu, confirm the development for statement wey come out on Thursday, saying the agency don start full and transparent investigation to find out the real circumstances wey surround the incident.

According to Idowu, early information show say the clinic wey carry out the procedure actually register with HEFAMAA, but she emphasise say registration no mean say such facility no go face investigation especially when issue of patient safety come up.

She explain say HEFAMAA, as the official regulatory body for health facilities in Lagos, dey responsible for monitoring, licensing and accrediting hospitals and clinics to make sure say dem follow professional standards and safety rules.

Idowu add say cosmetic and aesthetic surgeries for the state get strict regulations wey cover things like hospital facilities, qualification of medical practitioners, infection control, patient consent procedures, anaesthesia safety and emergency response.

The agency say dem don already begin detailed review of the case, including checking whether the clinic follow regulatory standards, confirming the professional credentials of the medical personnel involved and reviewing the level of care the patient receive before, during and after the surgery.

She also reassure residents say the Lagos State Government remain committed to protecting public health through strict monitoring of healthcare facilities and enforcement of medical standards across the state.

HEFAMAA still advise the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information on social media while investigation into the incident continues.
