
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) don gather different stakeholders for Niger State to discuss how dem go take prepare and reduce the effect of flood wey fit happen for 2025.

Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, talk dis one during one stakeholders meeting for disaster preparedness and response campaign wey happen for Minna on Thursday.
Di programme wey get theme “Strengthening Resilience, Enhancing Preparedness and Response” aim to make communities strong, ready and quick to respond to any flood wahala.
Umar, wey Ishaya Chonoko represent, explain say dis engagement na to build better system to handle flood disaster across Nigeria.
She talk say NEMA don already get important information about rainfall pattern and possible flood situation for 2025 from Nigerian Meteorological Agency and Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency.
According to her, NEMA go send teams go all states to meet people wey dey flood-prone areas and give dem early warning message.
She add say dem go work together with state emergency agencies, local emergency committees and community volunteers to make sure say message reach grassroots.
Umar still call on traditional rulers, religious bodies, women and youth groups, plus media, to support di effort, as she remind everybody say disaster management na everybody work.
She say make all hands dey on deck to protect communities, save important infrastructure and make sure say economic activities no stop because of flood.
“We need to step up and do things differently from before, find better solutions and prepare for quick response,” she add.
On im own side, Hussaini Ibrahim from Niger State Emergency Management Agency talk say di meeting go help bring solutions wey go save lives and property when flood come.
Also, Commissioner for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Ahmed Yumu, say di campaign go help reduce di yearly flood problem wey dey affect di state.
Other people wey attend di meeting include Hussaini Isah, officials from National Inland Waterways Authority, security agencies like police and army, plus traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
