The Adhoc Committee wey Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, set up on August 8 confirm say areas like Gimbiya Street for Garki, Gana Street for Maitama and Ademola Adetokunbo Street for Wuse II don turn commercial hub without proper approval.

Committee chairman, Mukhtar Galadima, Director of Development Control, yarn say anybody wey convert house without clearance must:

  • Drop ₦5m fine.

  • Pay 7.5% of property capital value as land use conversion fee.

  • Pay statutory Right of Occupancy bills for new land use.

  • If you merge, extend or divide property without approval, pay another 2% of the value.

After receiving the report, Wike warn say anybody wey no gree comply go face serious sanction, including revocation of land title.

“We no go allow people dey scatter Abuja master plan because of personal gain. Anybody wey do illegal conversion must face the consequence,” Wike blast.

According to officials, the move go help restore Abuja city order and make sure landowners dey follow proper guidelines.
