The United States Government don reaffirm im commitment to support disaster management efforts for Nigeria following a strategic meeting between officials of the United States Mission in Abuja and Nigerian emergency management authorities.
The meeting, wey hold for Abuja, was led by Mr. Murphy Opadotun, Team Lead of the Office of Humanitarian Assistance, alongside other officials from the United States Mission.
During the discussion, the delegation assured Nigerian authorities say the United States Forest Service don show readiness to resume its training and capacity-building programmes for personnel of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs) across the country.
According to officials, the training go focus on strengthening skills in Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) management and Incident Command System (ICS) operations, two critical areas for effective disaster response and emergency coordination.
The renewed commitment is expected to improve the preparedness and response capacity of emergency management agencies as Nigeria continues to face different humanitarian and disaster-related challenges.
Authorities described the development as another major step in the growing partnership between Nigeria and the United States Government, aimed at strengthening disaster risk management and emergency response systems nationwide.
The collaboration also aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which seeks to enhance institutional capacity, improve public safety and build resilience against disasters across the country.
With the planned resumption of training programmes, stakeholders believe emergency management personnel at both federal and state levels will be better equipped to respond swiftly and effectively whenever disasters occur.
