The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Army don reaffirm dia commitment to work more closely together to tackle corruption, economic crimes and other threats to Nigeria’s security.
The assurance come on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Acting Zonal Director of EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, ACE I Adebayo Adeniyi, to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, for Lagos.
Speaking during the meeting, Adeniyi say stronger cooperation among security and law enforcement agencies dey important now more than ever because economic crimes and security challenges dey constantly evolve.
According to am, EFCC and the Nigerian Army don already record several successes through intelligence sharing and joint operations, adding say the partnership need to continue and grow stronger.
“There are many areas where we fit work together. We don achieve a lot through intelligence gathering and joint operations, but there is still more to do. We are here to strengthen our synergy and continue supporting one another,” Adeniyi talk.
He explain say both institutions get a shared responsibility to protect Nigeria’s economy and security, stressing that information sharing should become a permanent culture among government agencies.
Adeniyi also reveal say EFCC get modern forensic laboratories that fit support military investigations and intelligence activities whenever the need arises.
Responding, Major General Babalola praise EFCC for its professionalism and commitment in the fight against corruption and financial crimes.
The Army commander describe collaboration among security agencies as necessary for protecting the nation and ensuring economic stability.
“You are highly experienced professionals and we are honoured to receive you. Anytime you need our support, we are ready to assist,” Babalola said.
He further reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship with the EFCC, noting that intelligence sharing, mutual support and strategic cooperation remain key to tackling security challenges and promoting national prosperity.
The meeting ended with both agencies pledging to deepen collaboration as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-graft campaign and safeguard the country’s economic and security interests.
