Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, don commission the access road wey dey bypass the second runway of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, connecting Bill Clinton Drive to Tungan Madaki Community for Abuja.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wey Senate President Godswill Akpabio represent during the commissioning ceremony, talk say the new road go create fresh economic opportunities for communities wey don remain cut off from major commercial activities for the FCT for many years.
According to Wike, the project no be only road construction, but a step to correct long-standing injustice against original residents wey give up their ancestral lands to make way for the construction of the airport’s second runway.
The Minister praise residents of Tungan Madaki for their cooperation and understanding throughout the project implementation.
“I commend the people of Tungan Madaki for their support. Instead of demanding huge compensation, dem asked for important things wey fit improve their lives, including good roads and employment opportunities, and government don begin fulfil those requests,” Wike talk.
He add say the road go improve movement, boost economic activities and connect residents more closely to the economic centre of Abuja.
To further improve connectivity within the FCT, Wike direct construction giant, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), make dem complete the extension of the road from Tungan Madaki to Zuba before December 2026.
The extension, according to am, go create direct link between the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Gwagwalada Area Council, making transportation easier and supporting development across the affected communities.
The project forms part of ongoing infrastructure efforts by the FCT Administration to improve road networks, stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents across the territory.
