ICPC Arrest Former Science Minister Geoffrey Nnaji After Court Issue Bench Warrant
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) don arrest the immediate past Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, following the execution of a bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court.
According to the anti-corruption agency, the arrest became necessary after the former minister allegedly failed to honour several invitations issued to him as part of an ongoing investigation.
The Commission disclosed that it earlier sent a formal invitation to Nnaji through a letter dated May 15, 2026.
ICPC said the invitation was delivered to his known addresses in Abuja and Enugu, while another copy was also sent to his registered email address.
Despite receiving the notices through different channels, the former minister reportedly failed to appear before investigators on the scheduled dates for questioning.
The Commission said his failure to honour the invitations prompted it to seek legal action, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant by the Federal High Court.
Following the court order, ICPC operatives arrested the former minister to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
The Commission did not disclose the specific allegations being investigated but maintained that the arrest was carried out in compliance with a valid court order.
