One civic tech organisation, Monitoring Transparency in Nigeria Governance (MonITNG) don raise alarm say Edo State dam project dey swallow money wey no show result.
According to MonITNG, the project — “Construction of Earth Dam and Water Scheme for Otuo and District, Owan East LGA, Edo State” — first appear for federal budget with ₦500 million allocation for 2017, and e suppose complete by 2020.
But shock dey as MonITNG discover say for the 2025 federal budget, the same project reappear again, this time with ₦1 billion fresh allocation, even though no solid evidence dey say work don progress reach anywhere.
Because of this matter, the group don call on the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to waka enter the case, investigate wetin dey happen, and hold people wey dey behind am accountable.
MonITNG yarn say the repetition of allocations without result dey raise big question about transparency, accountability, and good governance for Nigeria public projects.
The group also appeal to Nigerians make dem shine eye, demand full disclosure, and no gree make government dey recycle budgets wey no dey touch ground.
