President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don approve final six-month tenure extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi.

The extension go allow Adeniyi remain for office till February 2027, even though im first tenure extension suppose end on August 1, 2026.

According to information wey emerge, the additional six months go help the Customs boss complete important reforms, especially the implementation of the National Single Window project, while also ensuring smooth leadership transition for the service.

During the transition period, Adeniyi go work closely with the Nigeria Customs Service Board to promote qualified officers to the rank of Comptroller of Customs. The service also go carry out compulsory retirement for officers wey don reach 60 years of age or complete 35 years in service.

Adeniyi join the Nigeria Customs Service after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University in the late 1980s.

Over the years, he steadily rose through the ranks, becoming Deputy Comptroller in 2012, Comptroller in 2017, Assistant Comptroller-General in 2020, and Acting Deputy Comptroller-General in January 2023.

President Tinubu later appointed am as Comptroller-General of Customs in June 2023.

The latest extension is expected to give the Customs Service enough time to consolidate ongoing reforms and prepare for an orderly succession process.
