For new travel advisory wey dem release on April 8, 2026, US warn their citizens make dem think well before travelling to Nigeria because of crime, terrorism, kidnapping and civil unrest.

The advisory place Nigeria under Level 3: Reconsider Travel, while about 23 states fall under Level 4: Do Not Travel, meaning say the risk too high.

Among the states wey dem list as dangerous include Borno, Yobe, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Taraba, Jigawa and northern Adamawa, where terrorism, banditry and kidnapping dey common.

For southern and southeast regions, states like Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo and Rivers (except Port Harcourt) also dey the list because of crime, unrest and kidnapping activities.

US authorities warn say violent crimes like armed robbery, carjacking and kidnapping for ransom dey widespread, and foreigners — especially Americans — fit become target.

Dem also raise alarm say terrorist attacks still dey possible for public places like markets, churches, shopping centres and events, adding say security operations fit happen anytime without warning.

This latest warning show say concern about Nigeria security situation still high for international level.
