Nigeria don reaffirm its position as one of the world’s leading gas destinations and declared readiness to attract more foreign investments into the country’s growing gas sector.

This assurance was given by the Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, during the opening day of the 2026 Global Energy Show in Calgary, Canada.

Speaking during a panel discussion on the theme, “The Emerging New Global Oil and Gas Order: Power, Alliances and the LNG Super-cycle,” the minister described Nigeria as a major gas province blessed with enormous proven gas reserves and huge investment opportunities.

Nigeria Open for Business

Ekpo assured global investors that Nigeria remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment through policies and regulations designed to attract capital, protect investments and accelerate growth across the energy sector.

According to him, the Federal Government is implementing reforms aimed at making the country one of the most attractive destinations for energy investments in Africa.

AKK and OB3 Pipelines to Drive Growth

The minister also highlighted key gas infrastructure projects such as the AKK and OB3 pipelines, describing them as strategic investments that will expand gas distribution across Nigeria and beyond.

He explained that the projects are designed to improve gas supply to different parts of the country, strengthen energy access across West Africa and Northern Africa, and eventually support gas exports to European markets.

According to Ekpo, the pipeline projects will play a vital role in unlocking Nigeria’s gas potential and boosting economic growth.

Nigeria Seeks Global Partnerships

Earlier at the conference, the minister delivered a keynote address where he reiterated Nigeria’s willingness to work closely with global energy stakeholders to strengthen energy security and ensure efficient development of natural resources.

He stressed the need for stronger international cooperation to meet growing global energy demands while promoting sustainable development.

The Global Energy Show, one of the world’s leading energy conferences, brings together government officials, investors, industry leaders and policymakers to discuss the future of oil, gas and renewable energy.

Nigeria’s participation at the event is expected to further showcase the country’s vast gas resources and attract fresh investments into the sector as the nation pursues its goal of becoming a major global gas hub.
