Residents of Kuje and other communities around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) don receive major relief as the newly completed six-lane dual carriageway linking Airport Expressway to Kuje Road was officially commissioned.
The road project, wey was awarded in February 2022, had reportedly been abandoned before the current administration came into office, with no contractor working on site at the time.
Speaking on the development, FCT authorities said the successful completion of the road reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to delivering critical infrastructure projects across the territory.
According to officials, the new road will improve movement between Abuja city centre and surrounding communities, reduce traffic congestion and boost economic activities within the area.
Vice President Kashim Shettima commissioned the project on behalf of President Tinubu, marking another milestone in the ongoing infrastructure drive of the Federal Government.
Authorities also disclosed that the commissioning forms part of the ongoing 31 Days of Projects Commissioning programme in the FCT.
They added that another major project is scheduled for commissioning by President Tinubu on Monday as the programme continues.
The completion of the Airport Expressway-Kuje Road is expected to improve transportation, enhance connectivity and restore confidence among residents who had long awaited the project’s delivery.
