Former Leicester City winger and Super Eagles star, Ahmed Musa, don officially announce say e don retire from international football, describing im journey with Nigeria national team as one full of pride and meaning.

Musa make the announcement on Wednesday through emotional message to Nigerians and the Super Eagles family, say e don decide to end almost 15 years of service to the national team.

“After plenty thinking, I don decide to retire from international football. This one don close chapter of almost 15 years with the Super Eagles. From the first time dem call me, wearing green and white mean everything to me,” Musa write.

Grateful Heart

The 33-year-old footballer thank fans, teammates, coaches and football administrators for the support wey dem show am throughout im career.

“Football give me career, but Nigeria give me meaning. To all my teammates, coaches, backroom staff and administrators, thank you for believing in me,” e talk.

Musa also appreciate Nigerian fans both home and abroad, say their support mean more to am than words fit explain.

“As I step away from international football, I dey go with peace and gratitude. I know say I give my best. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle,” he add.

World Cup Record Holder

Ahmed Musa remain Nigeria highest goal scorer for World Cup, with four goals. E score two goals against Argentinafor Brazil 2014 and repeat the same magic four years later with two goals against Iceland for Russia 2018.

The Kano Pillars manager also win AFCON title with the Super Eagles and earn the nickname “The Governor” because of im leadership for the team.

Club Career

Musa start im football journey with Kano Pillars before moving to Europe. E play for clubs like CSKA Moscow for Russia, VV Venlo for Netherlands, and Turkish sides Karagümrük and Sivasspor.

He also play for Al Nassr for Saudi Arabia, where e help the club win league title.

In September 2024, Musa return to Kano Pillars as player and later get appointment as General Manager of the club.

With im retirement from international football, Musa legacy remain strong as one of Nigeria most decorated and respected footballers.
