NNPC Limited and TotalEnergies don strengthen their partnership as both companies renew agreement to continue the deployment of advanced technology aimed at reducing methane and carbon emissions across oil and gas operations in Nigeria.
According to a statement from NNPC Limited, the renewed agreement go allow the deployment of the Airborne Ultralight Spectrometer for Environmental Applications (AUSEA) technology for another 24 months.
The AUSEA technology na specialised environmental monitoring system wey dey help detect, measure and track methane leaks and other carbon emissions from upstream petroleum operations.
NNPC explain say the renewed partnership forms part of efforts to improve environmental sustainability, support global climate goals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Nigeria’s energy sector.
The company note say methane reduction remains one of the most effective ways to address climate change because methane gas contributes significantly to global warming.
Through the continued use of AUSEA technology, both NNPC and TotalEnergies expect to improve emission monitoring, identify leak sources faster and implement corrective actions to reduce environmental impact.
Industry experts believe say the initiative will further strengthen Nigeria’s commitment to cleaner energy production and responsible resource development while maintaining efficiency in oil and gas operations.
The partnership also reflects the growing focus by major energy companies on adopting innovative technologies to balance energy production with environmental protection and sustainability goals.
NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to driving responsible energy development and collaborating with strategic partners to support a lower-carbon future for Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
