PEWAI Hail Dangote Refinery for Respect Workers’ Rights, Protect Nigeria Economy

For statement wey PEWAI President, Comrade Ebikeme Okorotie, release on Wednesday, im hail di memorandum of understanding (MoU) wey Dangote, NUPENG, and oda big labour stakeholders sign on September 8, 2025.

Di MoU stop di planned NUPENG strike and open road make Dangote refinery workers unionise free of intimidation. Di unionisation go run between September 9 to 22, 2025.

Okorotie yan say Dangote don show say e possible to respect workers’ constitutional rights while still dey promote national economic stability.

“Dangote management don prove say respect for workers dey possible alongside economic growth. Dem negotiate in good faith, no intimidation, and dem set new standard for oil and gas sector,” Okorotie talk.

PEWAI warn say any strike wey disturb Dangote Refinery fit scatter fuel supply, jobs and Nigeria economy. Dem urge unions like NUPENG to use wisdom when dem dey fight for workers’ rights, so e no go affect ordinary Nigerians.

“Workers get right to unionise, but dem suppose balance am with national interest. Dis refinery mean billions of naira investment, thousands of jobs and key infrastructure. Any action wey threaten am na attack on all Nigerians,” Okorotie add.

PEWAI still salute NLC, TUC, and NMDPRA for dia role inside di MoU process wey help prevent crisis and keep confidence high inside petroleum sector.

“Industrial wahala no dey strange for any country, but how we settle am na wetin go show whether economy strong or weak. Dis time, Dangote leadership plus union dialogue save Nigeria from crisis,” PEWAI conclude.
