Power supply for South-West affected
The Ikeja West–Osogbo 330kV line na one major backbone for Nigeria national grid, wey dey carry bulk electricity from Lagos go other parts of South-West.
Because of this, any problem for the line dey usually affect power supply for many homes and businesses, especially for Lagos and nearby states.
Repairs don start
TCN talk say dem don already mobilise engineers, materials and equipment to the site to rebuild the fallen tower and restore normal transmission.
Engineers dey currently dismantle the damaged structure, while plans dey ongoing to re-erect the tower as soon as possible.
The company also say dem don activate emergency response measures and dey use alternative transmission lines to reduce the impact on electricity supply.
Wetin force majeure mean
TCN explain say declaring force majeure mean say the disruption happen because of something beyond their control — for this case, na extreme weather like heavy rainstorm.
Growing concern over power infrastructure
This latest incident don again raise concern about how Nigeria power infrastructure fit withstand harsh weather conditions.
Experts don long complain say the national grid still face problems like ageing equipment, weak capacity and frequent system failures, especially during heavy rainfall season.
Despite ongoing upgrades, issues like line trips and tower collapse still dey affect stable electricity supply across the country.
TCN, however, assure Nigerians say dem go continue work to restore full capacity and provide updates as repair work dey progress.
