Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Comrade Timi Frank, don raise fresh alarm over di safety and health of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, following allegation say one Russian doctor secretly visit am inside DSS custody.
Frank make di allegation for statement wey e release on Friday, claiming say one DSS official allegedly inform am say di foreign doctor visit El-Rufai around 9:45 p.m. for medical examination.
According to Frank, El-Rufai initially refuse di examination before authorities allegedly compel am to cooperate.
“A DSS official reach out to me to confirm say one Russian doctor visit Mallam Nasir El-Rufai around 9:45 p.m. under claim say e need urgent medical attention,” Frank tok.
Di former APC spokesman question why foreign doctor go allegedly visit late for night if na ordinary medical treatment.
“If Mallam El-Rufai truly sick, why dem go bring foreign doctor at night?” Frank ask.
He also allege say di doctor, identified as “Dr Dmitriy,” examine di former governor without proper consultation with im family members.
Frank further claim say di development don increase fears over alleged plot against El-Rufai, especially after earlier reports about threats to di former Kaduna governor.
According to am, El-Rufai appear healthy during im last court appearance, adding say any medical treatment suppose happen with di former governor’s consent.
Frank also question why DSS allegedly move El-Rufai back into custody despite what e describe as existing order for am to remain with ICPC.
He ask whether President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani dey afraid of El-Rufai politically.
“What exactly are President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani afraid of?” Frank ask.
He also remind Nigerians say El-Rufai allegedly play important role during di 2023 presidential election campaign.
Frank insist say di former governor no dey run from authorities, noting say El-Rufai voluntarily present himself to security agencies after returning from Egypt.
While reaffirming support for anti-corruption fight, Frank say fairness, due process and rule of law must not be ignored.
He call on Nigerian Bar Association, northern leaders, youths, civil society organisations and international community to demand immediate release of El-Rufai.
Frank warn say failure to act quickly fit lead to serious consequences, alleging fears say di former governor fit remain in prolonged detention ahead of 2027 elections.
