NNPC Say Cooking Gas Price Don Rise Because of PENGASSAN Strike

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mr. Bayo Ojulari, don talk say the recent increase wey Nigerians dey face for cooking gas price na because of temporary wahala for loading and distribution during the PENGASSAN strike.

Ojulari talk this one on Sunday when e meet State House correspondents after meeting with President Bola Tinubu for Abuja.

According to am, di industrial action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) cause delay for movement and supply for about two to three days, wey lead to wetin e call “artificial spike in price.”

“The increase wey una see no be natural. Na because during the strike, movement and loading stop small for two, three days. As things dey return back to normal, e go take small time before supply and distribution balance again,” Ojulari explain.

Di price hike start after PENGASSAN begin strike over di sack of Nigerian workers for Dangote Refinery, before government intervention make dem suspend am on October 1.

Ojulari also blame some retailers wey use the opportunity hike price anyhow.

“You know how e be for Nigeria; once supply delay small, some people go take advantage. Dem get stock already but still raise price,” he yarn.

But he give assurance say as supply chain dey balance, cooking gas price go soon calm down.

“Now wey operation don resume and Dangote Group don agree redeploy affected workers, e go help reduce bottleneck. My expectation be say price go soon return to wetin e be before di strike,” Ojulari add.
