Union say government too slow to act, warn say strike go start Sunday if dem no see better move

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don talk say di Federal Government beg make dem cancel strike don come too late.

ASUU President, Chris Piwuna, talk am for Channels Television program The Morning Brief on Thursday, say government and Ministry of Education too slow to respond to di union demand.

“We go meeting for Sokoto, dem give us three weeks. We wait tire, dem no talk anything until di three weeks don finish. Na when we threaten strike dem now come beg,” Piwuna talk.

E add say di 2009 agreement wey dem still dey renegotiate since eight years never still end. “Now, two working days before strike, dem dey beg us. Di appeal don come too late,” he talk.

ASUU don give government 14-day ultimatum since September 29, and di time go finish Sunday. Piwuna warn say if government no bring serious offer within di next 48 hours, di union go start warning strike.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, don beg ASUU make dem no strike, say government don dey work on dia demands.

Alausa talk say President Bola Tinubu don order di Mahmud Yayale Ahmed Committee make dem fast-track negotiation to avoid another wahala for Nigeria universities.
