The Movement for the Emancipation of Nigeria (MEN) don call on President Bola Tinubu and Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi make dem stop the court case wey dem dey do against suspended police officer Abba Kyari and free am without delay.
For statement wey former sports minister Solomon Dalung, wey be Comrade General of MEN, sign on Tuesday, the group say e no make sense say government don pardon drug traffickers, kidnappers, and fraudsters—people wey Kyari himself arrest—while dem still keep am for detention.
“Na clear injustice be this,” MEN talk. “You no fit free criminals and still dey punish the person wey risk him life to catch dem.”
MEN say the presidential pardon wey Tinubu grant last week to 175 people don make Kyari case no get moral or legal sense again.
The group warn say if government no release Kyari, e go set bad example for security officers wey dey fight crime for the country.
“Mercy no suppose be for guilty people alone while the righteous dey suffer,” MEN add.
Kyari don dey detention since February 2022 after NDLEA accuse am say e try to tamper with and traffic 21.35 kilograms of cocaine. He don plead not guilty since.
