The Chairman of CCB, Dr. Abdullahi Bello, yarn dis one for Abuja when him dey give account of wetin him don achieve for one year since he enter office.
According to wetin dem talk for statement wey Moses Atolagbe, Director of Special Duties for the Bureau, sign, the check wey dem do na the first big work wey the new Financial Investigation and Fraud Analysis Unit (FIFAU)handle.
Bello talk say di investigation don show say some public officers no dey truthful for how dem declare their property and money. He say dem go face punishment as part of government effort to promote honesty and clean governance.
He yarn say the Bureau don already verify asset declaration forms for 9 ministers, 43 permanent secretaries and 40 federal directors, make sure say dem dey transparent.
“We no go stop for this verification matter; na continuous process. We wan build system wey go make compliance steady,” Bello talk.
Bello still talk say for the past one year, CCB don introduce online asset declaration system wey go make am easy for public officers to download and fill CCB Form-1 through www.ccb.gov.ng. The new method don save government millions of naira wey dem dey use print paper forms before.
He talk say about 199 staff don get training for investigation, verification, forensic analysis and ethics so dem go fit catch anybody wey wan play smart.
The Bureau don also open zonal offices across di country wey go handle intelligence, support prosecution and monitor states for faster action.
To make their hand strong, CCB don partner with EFCC, ICPC, DSS, NFIU and even foreign embassies. Dem don also dey represent Nigeria for Cambridge Economic Crime Forum and U.S. IVLO 2025 to show say Nigeria dey serious for anti-corruption fight.
CCB don even join the Association of Commonwealth Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies for Africa, wey mean say Nigeria don dey inside the main anti-corruption team for the continent.
Bello remind all government people say the new motto of the Bureau na “Declare or Forfeit.” He warn say any officer wey hide property or no declare well go lose am.
“Make everybody declare their asset well well, make we all dey transparent. Corruption no go get space for this new system,” Bello talk.
Bello don dey as CCB Chairman since October 23, 2024, when President Bola Tinubu appoint am to help reshape the Bureau and make public officers dey more accountable.
