Oga Thompson Sunday, wey be Managing Director for Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), don talk say new law don give NDIC strong power to go after people wey cause bank failure for Nigeria.
He yarn this one when Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) people, led by their Chairman Chimezie Ihekweazu (SAN), visit NDIC office for Abuja.
According to am, the new NDIC Act 30 of 2023 and BOFIA 2020 don change plenty things, make e easy for NDIC to prosecute people wey spoil banks before. Before now, bad people dey escape because law no strong enough.
He thank the National Assembly and the judiciary say dem don make deposit insurance law strong well. “Now, e no go easy again for people to hide under law. Many of dem don begin settle out of court because dem don see say NDIC go hold dem,” he talk.
Sunday still talk say the new law help NDIC pay first liquidation dividend to people wey lose money for Heritage Bankafter dem revoke the bank licence.
He promise say NDIC go continue to work with BRIPAN and other people wey concern to make banking and recovery matter for Nigeria better.
For him side, Ihekweazu talk say BRIPAN don work to bring all insolvency laws together to make dem work better and make businesses fit recover quick when dem get wahala.
