The Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, don announce say dem dey prepare to expand their student loan programme to cover vocational and skills acquisition schools across the country.

Managing Director of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, yarn this one for interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday for Abuja.
He talk say the expansion join body with Federal Government big plan to boost education and build strong skills among young people wey go help national development.

Sawyerr explain say President Bola Tinubu no wan make development remain only for book and theory level.
According to am, “No country fit grow if na only philosophers full am. You need people wey fit use hand, energy and skill take build wetin the book people design.”

He talk say since NELFUND start, dem don mostly support university and other tertiary students, but the next level na to open door for Nigerians wey dey learn handwork and technical training.

Sawyerr also yarn say Nigeria don reach one stage wey need balance between book knowledge and practical skill.
“At NELFUND, we get mandate to support vocational skills too. We never start am fully, but President Tinubu administration don make sure say skills development cover everywhere,” he talk.

He mention say ministries like Youth Development, Education and Digital Economy dey work together on skills matter — from handwork to soft IT skills.

Sawyerr end am by saying Nigeria don enter “design, build and operate” era, and the country need people wey fit both design and build.
