Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) don deny tori wey dey fly up and down say government schools for Abuja go shut down on November 28, 2025.

Earlier on Tuesday, one memo circulate online wey claim say Minister Nyesom Wike don order say secondary schools must close because of “security wahala.”
Di memo wey Director of School Services for FCT Secondary Education Board, Mrs. Aishatu Sani Alhassan allegedly sign, instruct principals make dem end class sharply.

But FCTA Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, come out later talk say no such order dey anywhere.

“No level of FCTA approve any school closure. Make parents and students ignore di rumour,” di statement talk.

Because of di confusion, Minister Wike don suspend di Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, immediately.
Acting Head of Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, don also get order make she discipline di Director of School Services according to civil service law.

Di administration reassure residents say schools dey safe and government don restart Operation Sweep and other security activities for di territory.

Before dem suspend am, Dr. Hayyo tell reporters say even him see di memo like every other person.

“Di director no get power to close schools. Parents make una relax; Abuja schools dey safe,” he yarn.

FCTA warn residents make dem dey follow only official channels to avoid spreading fake news.
