According to am, the renewed relationship lead to $5.8 billion health cooperation agreement between Nigeria and US, signed just few days ago.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), US go provide $2.18 billion grant, while Nigeria go contribute $3 billion, making am the largest co-investment under America global health strategy.

Idris explain say the agreement go strengthen Nigeria health system, save lives and attract more investment, dismissing claims say the programme target only one region.

“No single region mention for the MoU. Na nationwide programme wey go benefit all Nigerians,” he talk.

The minister also highlight Nigeria return to key international platforms after many years, including Nigeria re-election to Category C seat of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council for 2026–2027, almost 40 years after the country lose the position.

He reveal say several Nigerians also get high-level appointments for international organisations in 2025, covering areas like global health, telecoms, coastal management, ports and harbour administration.

For trade and creative sectors, Idris say Nigeria secure hosting rights for major events like Creative African Network (CANET) 2026 and Inter-African Trade Fair 2027.

Responding to people wey dey claim say Nigeria dey lose relevance globally, the minister counter say the country dey “take back im seat for global table.”

He add say clearance of newly appointed ambassadors by the National Assembly go further boost Nigeria bilateral relations and global engagement.

For media and communications, Idris announce say Nigeria go also host 2026 World Public Relations Forum and African Public Relations Association Conference, events wey go bring global communication leaders enter the country.
