The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) don call on government make dem immediately suspend the implementation of the newly passed Tax Reform Acts, over wetin dem describe as serious controversy wey don surround how the laws take pass.
According to NBA, the way the tax laws take enter law book don raise big questions about the integrity, transparency and credibility of Nigeria lawmaking process, warning say the matter dey strike directly at the heart of constitutional governance.
In one statement wey dem President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, sign, the association say the situation dey make people doubt whether due process and proper legislative procedures really follow as democracy require.
The NBA urge make government carry out full, open and transparent investigation to explain clearly how the Tax Reform Acts take pass, so that Nigerians go regain confidence for the National Assembly.
“Until dem properly examine and resolve all these issues, all plans to implement the Tax Reform Acts suppose stop immediately,” Osigwe talk.
The association also warn say the legal and policy confusion wey don come from the controversy fit cause serious damage to the economy.
According to NBA, the uncertainty fit scatter business environment, chase away investors and create confusion for individuals, companies and institutions wey suppose comply with the new tax system.

The association finally call on all relevant authorities make dem act quickly and responsibly to settle the matter, in the overall interest of constitutional order, economic stability and respect for rule of law.
