Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana, make the announcement on Sunday, urging all lawmakers to adjust their schedules to attend the important sitting.

According to the statement, plenary for both the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives go start by 11:00am on Tuesday.

The Clerk say all Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members must take note and reschedule any other engagement because “very crucial decisions” go take place during the session.

Although the National Assembly no clearly state the exact matters wey dem go deliberate on, lawmakers earlier suspend plenary to allow Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) defend their 2026 budget proposals.

Meanwhile, reports earlier show say the House of Representatives plan emergency sitting to consider issues wey concern the Electoral Act Amendment Bill. This development follow the release of the 2027 general election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The timetable generate debate because some of the scheduled dates reportedly clash with Ramadan period, expected to fall between February 7 and 8, 2027.

Following INEC announcement, several Nigerians, including some senators, raise concern about the possible conflict with the Muslim fasting period.

Observers believe say Tuesday plenary fit address possible adjustments to the electoral timetable to avoid interference with Ramadan activities.
