The Lagos State House of Assembly don reaffirm say make nobody start any new construction work for the demolished areas of Makoko and Shogunle communities, until reconciliation process wey go last two weeks finish.

The lawmakers talk say dem wan give room for peace talks and settlement between government and affected residents before any further action go take place.

The House also approve recommendation from the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on E-GIS, Dr. Olajide Babatunde. According to the resolution, government don create 250-metre setback from Third Mainland Bridgeand another 250-metre buffer after the power line corridor. This means say nobody go fit build anything inside those restricted zones.

During committee meeting with leaders from Makoko and Shogunle, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, wey Majority Leader Hon. Noheem Adams represent, explain say the Assembly dey work together with Lagos State Building Control Agency and E-GIS office to find lasting solution.

Adams direct each affected community to set up 10-member committee. He say the committee must include women, youths, students and traditional leaders so that everybody voice go dey heard and peace go reign.

After the meeting, Chairman of Yaba Local Government express satisfaction with the resolutions. He talk say state and local governments don already dey distribute relief materials and palliatives to affected residents.

The chairman add say the Assembly committee plan to round up their work within two weeks look achievable, but he urge residents to obey government directives strictly. He also warn community leaders make dem no pursue personal interest wey fit scatter peace or delay final settlement.
