Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, reportedly set to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, as part of fresh political realignment for the country.
Sources say the governor decision come after several meetings with Bola Ahmed Tinubu and leaders of the APC in the past few weeks.
According to reports, the ruling party don agree on 60/40 power-sharing arrangement with Mohammed and also promise him opportunity to contest for Senate seat later.
However, one major issue wey still remain unresolved be whether the Bauchi governor go get the power to nominate his successor for the governorship position.
Sources inside the discussion say the President prefer make the political structure of APC for Bauchi remain under the control of the party leadership instead of any single individual because of the political importance of the state.
The situation dey complicated because some top figures from Bauchi also show interest for the governorship position, including Ali Pate, Yusuf Tuggar and oil and gas expert Bala Wunti.
Despite the unresolved issue, Mohammed reportedly don finalise plans to officially join the APC at a ceremony expected to attract major party leaders.
If the defection happen, the number of APC governors for the country go rise further, leaving opposition parties like Labour Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Accord Party with fewer state governments.

Lamido Calls For Unity

Former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, also urge party leaders to support the caretaker leadership structure linked to Wike and focus on unity.
Lamido warn say if PDP leaders continue internal fights, the party fit lose strength as a major opposition platform for Nigeria politics.
