Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission don confirm say dem go arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for Federal High Court Kaduna today (Tuesday) over alleged corruption offences.

According to statement wey Head of Media and Public Communications, John Odey, release, El-Rufai and one Joel Adoga go appear before the court under case number FHC/KD/73/2026.

ICPC talk say the charges against the former governor include conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.

The planned arraignment come after pressure from different stakeholders, including African Democratic Congress, wey earlier demand make government either release El-Rufai or charge am to court.

Some groups also condemn how long security agencies keep am without formal charges, saying e go against constitutional rights.

Muslim Rights Concern also criticise the continued detention, while family members of the former governor call for proper court process.

Apart from the federal case, ICPC also file another charge against El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule for Kaduna State High Court.

The second case, wey carry number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, include offences like abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud and giving undue advantage.

ICPC explain say dem file both charges on March 18, 2026, and the date for the state court arraignment go be announced later.

The anti-corruption agency also confirm say dem don properly serve El-Rufai and promise to follow due process and rule of law.

Reports show say El-Rufai was first detained by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he honour invitation on February 16. Though dem grant am bail on February 18, ICPC later take over the case and keep am in custody till now.
