The Federal Government don warn universities, polytechnics and colleges across Nigeria against giving admissions outside the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

 Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, gave the warning on Monday during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja.

According to the minister, any admission conducted outside JAMB CAPS is illegal and will not be recognised by government.

He also warned that institutions violating the admission process risk sanctions, including suspension of operating licences.

Alausa said the Federal Government is determined to restore transparency and credibility to Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

The minister further confirmed that 16 years remains the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions.

He also praised JAMB for improving access to education for persons living with disabilities through special support measures.

Alausa urged schools across the country to strictly comply with admission guidelines and maintain transparency in their operations.
