Rivers Assembly: Anxiety Grow as APC Appeal Panel Ends Sitting
Tension and anxiety don increase among aspirants seeking ticket of All Progressives Congress for Rivers State House of Assembly as the party Appeal Screening Committee conclude its sitting.
The two-day appeal session end on Wednesday evening after aspirants submitted petitions and defended their cases before the panel.
The committee, headed by Abdul Mahmud, had promised to attend to all petitions submitted by aggrieved aspirants.
Aspirants Await Final Verdict
Although the exact number of petitions received by the committee no dey clear yet, Mahmud earlier disclosed say the panel had already received 19 petitions as of Tuesday.
According to am, the committee extended its sitting to allow more aspirants submit appeals and supporting documents.
The development comes amid growing political tension ahead of Rivers State House of Assembly primaries.
APC Secretariat Busy as Panel Ends Work
When journalists visited APC Secretariat along Aba Road on Wednesday evening, the place still get some activity despite reports say the panel don conclude its assignment.
Rivers APC spokesman, Chibike Ikenga, confirm say the committee don finish its report and findings.
According to am, the party go make the outcome public in due course.
Aspirants Hopeful for Fair Process
One of the aspirants wey submitted appeal, GOGO Isaiah, say him appear before the panel with all necessary documents requested by the committee.
“So now, I dey wait for the panel to release their report,” Isaiah talk.
Many aspirants and party supporters are now waiting for APC leadership to announce final decisions from the appeal process as political activities continue to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
