Federal Government don reveal say Nigeria now dey operate one of the biggest education data systems for Africa as part of efforts to improve planning, transparency and quality education across the country.

Speaking during the 2026 DHIS2 Annual Conference for Oslo, Norway, education officials highlighted the progress of the Digital National Education Management Information System (DNEMIS), a platform wey government develop together with UNICEF to strengthen education management nationwide.
According to government figures, the platform currently captures data from more than 32 million learners across 204,048 schools spread through the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and all 774 local government areas.
Officials explain say the system dey help authorities identify where classrooms, teachers, learning materials and other critical interventions dey needed most, making am easier to channel resources to underserved communities and schools.
The government also disclosed say Nigeria now accounts for 32 million out of the 45 million education records hosted globally on the DHIS2 platform, making the country the largest education implementation on the platform anywhere in the world.
The achievement forms part of the ongoing Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), designed to improve efficiency, accountability and transparency within the education sector.
Officials say the use of technology and reliable data go help policymakers make better decisions and ensure that education investments produce measurable results for Nigerian children.
They added that the future of education development depends on accurate data, evidence-based planning and effective implementation rather than assumptions.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital innovation to build a stronger education system capable of delivering quality learning opportunities for every Nigerian child.
