Zulum Assign Portfolios To 9 New Commissioners, Creates Ministry of Planning and Economic Development

Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, don approve the posting and allocation of portfolios to nine newly sworn-in commissioners after dem pass screening and confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.

The governor also approve the creation of a new Ministry of Planning and Economic Development as part of efforts to strengthen governance, support post-conflict recovery and accelerate economic growth across the state.

According to the approved appointments, Hon. Satumari Abdulaziz Samaila go serve as Commissioner for Ministry of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties, while Hon. Babagana Malarima go head the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Hon. Maina Yaumi don receive appointment as Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, while Hon. Engr. Tijjani Alkali Goni go oversee the Ministry of Water Resources.

Other appointments include Hon. Arch. Isa Garba Haladu as Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement; Hon. Engr. Mohammed Habib as Commissioner for Environment; and Hon. Engr. Dr. Bawu Musami as Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Governor Zulum also assigned Hon. Ibrahim Hala Hassan to the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism, while Hon. Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe go lead the Ministry of Works and Housing.

The state government direct all the commissioners to resume duty in their respective ministries with immediate effect.

Governor Zulum urge the commissioners to remain committed to public service and work towards successful implementation of government policies and programmes as his administration enters the final phase of its tenure.

He also advise the commissioners to work closely with permanent secretaries, directors and other civil servants to ensure effective service delivery and improve the welfare of people across Borno State.

The governor noted say the new appointments and creation of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development form part of broader efforts to deepen governance, strengthen institutions and deliver more democratic dividends to residents of the state.
