Nigeria don officially submit a $500 million bid to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix for Abuja, as the country seeks to bring the world-famous motorsport competition back to Africa for the first time since 1993.
The proposal, wey Opus Racing Promotions lead in partnership with the National Sports Commission, aims to position Nigeria as a major destination for global sporting events and international tourism.
According to organisers, hosting a Formula 1 race for Abuja no go be as difficult as many people dey assume, considering the growing infrastructure and investment opportunities available in the Federal Capital Territory.

Supporters of the initiative believe say the event fit generate significant revenue through tourism, hospitality, transportation and related businesses while also boosting Nigeria’s image on the global stage.
