Supporters Say Lawmaker’s Projects, Accessibility and Legislative Work Deserve Another Term
Support for the re-election of Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, continues to gather momentum as political stakeholders and supporters call for his return to the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Many of his supporters believe Senator Dafinone’s performance in the 10th National Assembly has been marked by impactful representation, accessibility to constituents and legislative initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the Urhobo people and Nigerians at large.
Legislative Efforts
Supporters point to Senator Dafinone’s sponsorship of bills seeking to increase the derivation allocation for oil-producing states from 13 percent to 25 percent, as well as efforts to strengthen local government autonomy through constitutional reforms.
They also highlighted motions moved by the senator on security challenges in Delta Central, the rehabilitation of the Warri–Sapele–Benin Expressway, and his interventions during the Okuama crisis.
Community Engagement
According to party members and constituents, Senator Dafinone has maintained close contact with residents through constituency offices, regular consultations and engagement with traditional rulers and community leaders.
They described his leadership style as one that promotes dialogue, peace and unity, especially during political and community disputes.
Projects Across Delta Central
Supporters also listed several constituency projects executed under the senator’s representation, including:
- Construction of a 50-room students’ hostel at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun.
- Construction and equipping of ICT centres in selected secondary schools.
- Installation of solar-powered streetlights in communities across Ughelli, Udu and Sapele.
- Distribution of transformers to improve electricity supply.
- Economic empowerment programmes for women and youths through skills training, cash support and employment opportunities.
- Medical outreach programmes with free healthcare services and drug distribution in rural communities.
2027 Re-Election Campaign
Speaking during his declaration to seek re-election in Ughelli, supporters said retaining Senator Dafinone in the Senate would help Delta Central maintain experienced representation and ensure the completion of ongoing development projects.
They argued that returning a ranking senator to the National Assembly would strengthen the district’s voice on national issues and improve opportunities for attracting more federal projects.
The supporters maintained that the senator’s record in office has earned him another opportunity to continue representing the people of Delta Central in the Red Chamber.
