Kogi School Children Escape Kidnap As Army Foil Terrorists’ Attack

One Terrorist Die As Troops Rescue Pupils, Stop Planned Mass Abduction For Kogi State

Troops of the Nigerian Army have stopped terrorists from kidnapping pupils of Iluke Primary School in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attackers, who reportedly dressed in military uniforms to deceive residents, stormed Iluke Community on Thursday with plans to abduct school children.

However, their mission failed after vigilant residents alerted soldiers on patrol about suspicious activities in the area.

Acting on the intelligence, troops of the 12 Brigade quickly moved into the community and arrived just as the terrorists had gathered the pupils for the planned abduction.

The soldiers immediately confronted the attackers, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee.

During the gun battle, one terrorist was killed, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Sadly, before the troops arrived, the terrorists had already killed a teacher and another resident of the community.

Military authorities described the attack as another example of the cruelty of criminal groups that continue to target innocent Nigerians.

The Army said the swift intervention of its troops prevented what could have become a large-scale kidnapping and saved many young lives.

Security forces have since launched a manhunt for the fleeing terrorists. Authorities in neighbouring states, including Kwara and Niger, have also been alerted to help block possible escape routes.

The Nigerian Army reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
