The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) don activate plans to receive Nigerian citizens wey dey return from the Republic of South Africa.

According to the agency, the Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, has directed the deployment of the agency’s response team to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos ahead of the arrival of the evacuees.
First Batch Expected Thursday
NEMA disclosed say the first batch of Nigerians scheduled for evacuation will depart from the O.R. Tambo International Airport on Wednesday night.
The returnees are expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in the early hours of Thursday, June 11, 2026.
Agencies Working Together
The agency said arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth reception process for the returnees upon arrival.
NEMA will work closely with relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to provide necessary support and assistance to the evacuees.
Commitment to Citizens’ Welfare
The evacuation exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to safeguard the welfare of Nigerians abroad and provide assistance whenever necessary.
Officials say adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the returnees are properly received and attended to upon their arrival in Nigeria.
The arrival of the first batch marks the beginning of the repatriation process for affected Nigerians returning home from South Africa.
