Oyo Government Declares 16-Hour Curfew For 10 Local Government Areas

Oyo State Government don announce a 16-hour curfew across 10 local government areas of the state as part of efforts to maintain security and public order.

The directive, wey Governor Seyi Makinde approve, go take effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew go run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. daily and will remain in force for an initial period of 48 hours.

The government explained say the restriction affects local government areas wey share boundaries with the Old Oyo National Park.

The local government areas affected by the curfew include:

• Oriire Local Government (Ikoyi-Ile)
• Oorelope Local Government (Igboho)
• Irepo Local Government (Kisi)
• Saki West Local Government (Saki)
• Saki East Local Government (Ago-Amodu)
• Atisbo Local Government (Tede)
• Itesiwaju Local Government (Otu)
• Iseyin Local Government (Iseyin)
• Olorunsogo Local Government (Igbeti)
• Atiba Local Government (Offa-Meta)

Government Seeks Public Cooperation

The Oyo State Government urged residents of the affected areas to comply fully with the directive and cooperate with security agencies during the period of the curfew.

Authorities said the measure is aimed at protecting lives and property while ensuring peace and stability within the affected communities.

The government also assured residents that it would continue to monitor the security situation and provide further updates as necessary.
