President Bola Ahmed Tinubu don sign the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act 2026 into law, marking another major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s digital identity system.

The new law is expected to improve secure digital identification, build public trust and support innovation across different sectors of the economy.

According to the Presidency, the NIMC Act 2026 will provide a stronger legal framework for identity management and help expand access to reliable digital identity services for Nigerians.
